The Minister of Tourism and Trade, Frances Camp, took advantage of the government's Christmas breakfast to highlight the best visitor data since 2007, having in Andorra more than 8.2 million visitors, a figure that was not recorded since 10 years ago and which represents an increase of 3.5% over last year. The minister was happy because three million of these visitors are tourists who spend the night in Andorra. Overnight stays almost exceeded 8.4 million, 2.9% more than the previous year.
Visitors who do not spend a day in the principality were 5.2 million, only 0.9% more than last year. The results show, according to Camp, that the effort made by the government, which has resulted in doubling the budget dedicated to the promotion of Andorra to attract tourists, has worked.
Regarding the events, the minister announced that the agreement to renew Cirque du Solei's show for two more years has been successful. Camp explained that the new show will bring "a turning point" for the change of format, but assured that it will repeat location, and will have paid tickets and others with free admission.
